CITY CLERK

City of Black Jack – F/T

The City of Black Jack is looking to hire a City Clerk.  The ideal candidate will have local government experience and specifically three years of City Clerk experience.

Black Jack is a third-class City and governed by a Mayor and an eight-member City Council.  The City Clerk works under the general supervision of the Mayor and is the custodian of records, handles all election processes, seals and attests by signature of ordinances, resolutions, contracts, easements and other documents.  Responsible for responding to sunshine law requests and codification of City ordinances. 

The candidate will perform executive assistant duties and coordinate administrative function for the Mayor.  This position requires a high level of initiative, judgment, decision making, trust, diplomacy, confidentiality and a flexible weekly work schedule. 

This position includes preparing agendas and minutes for all City Council meetings and all correspondence related to the meetings.  At times, attend other meetings and record the minutes

PUBLIC WORKS - MAINTENANCE WORKER

$15.00 per hour - $18.00 per hour

The City of Black Jack is seeking a full-time Maintenance Worker whose responsibilities will include maintaining city streets and city owned buildings, infrastructure and parks. Skills should include operating commercial vehicles, power tools, lawn equipment and snow removal equipment operation of heavy machinery and equipment.  Will also perform vehicle safety inspections, minor repairs, routine maintenance of city vehicles and street and sidewalk repair.

Candidate must have a general knowledge in electrical repair, plumbing, HVAC, carpentry, painting, landscaping, welding and masonry. Seasonal duties include but are not limited to, mosquito fogging, snow removal, park maintenance, lawn care and landscaping. Must be able to work independently and in a team environment. Extensive carpentry, electrical and plumbing skills are a plus.

A minimum of one-year prior experience, US Citizen or legally authorized alien worker, Valid Driver’s License and High School diploma or GED are required.  Benefits: Retirement benefits, Vacation, Health Insurance, Dental Insurance.
