2009/10 City of Black Jack Budget passed
The City of Black Jack Mayor and City Council passed the 2009/10 budget at the June 2, 2009 City Council Meeting.
Black Jack, MO, June 3, 2009:  At their meeting on June 2, 2009, the Black Jack City Council passed the budget for the 2009/10 budget year that goes from July1, 2009 to June 30, 2010.
Proposed Budget for 2009 – 2010

Revenue2,321,050
Expenses2,169,858

A few Highlights were given for Revenue:
State Sales Tax is down 3% compared to last years budget
Motor Vehicle Tax is down 22% compared to last years budget
This year the recently approved 3% Utility Tax will help with the revenue shortfall.  Without the new Utility Tax the 2010 Revenues would be significantly less than last Year.


A few Highlights were given for Expenses:
Wages & Salaries are 5% less than last fiscal year.  This reduction was not due to lay off’s but
                 is the result of not replacing employees that have resigned or retired.
City Attorney expenses is targeted to be 15% less then last Fiscal Year.
City Internet Services are targeted to be 30% less than last fiscal year
Property/Casualty Insurance is 14% less than last year
Our Police contract with St. Louis County is a 4% reduction than last fiscal year
