NOTICE OF REGULAR CITY ELECTION
TO THE QUALIFIED VOTERS OF THE CITY OF BLACK JACK
AN ORDINANCE CONCERNING THE REGULAR CITY ELECTION
TO BE HELD IN THE CITY OF BLACK JACK, MISSOURI, ON
THE 3rd DAY OF APRIL, 2012
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BLACK JACK, ST. LOUIS COUNTY, MISSOURI, AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1: A general election shall be held on the first Tuesday after the first Monday in April, 2012, to wit: April 3, 2012, for the purpose of electing four (4) members of the City Council, one (1) from each of the four (4) Wards of the City for two (2) year terms.
SECTION 2: That the Board of Election Commissioners of St. Louis County, Missouri shall conduct such election in accordance with law.
SECTION 3: That the Board of Election Commissioners of St. Louis County, Missouri shall determine and designate the polling places for said election.
SECTION 4: That the Board of Election Commissioners of St. Louis County, Missouri shall appoint the judges and clerks of said election and do any other necessary acts or things that may be required for the proper conducting of said election.
SECTION 5: That notices concerning this election as required by law shall be given by the Board of Election Commissioners of St. Louis County, Missouri. Additional notices concerning said election may be given by the City.
SECTION 6: That the polls at said election, in accordance with law, shall open at 6:00 a.m. of said day and continue open until 7:00 p.m. under direction and supervision of the Board of Election Commissioners of St. Louis County, Missouri. Time referred to herein is official time, according to law.
SECTION 7: Any candidate for office at said election to be held, for the purpose of filling any such office or offices, shall between Tuesday, December 13, 2011 and Tuesday, January 17, 2012, inclusive, during the normal business hours of 7:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Monday through Thursday at Black Jack City Hall, 12500 Old Jamestown Road, notify the City Clerk, in writing, on forms supplied by the City Clerk, of their intention to be a candidate, giving their name, residence address, the office for which they are a candidate, and, if a candidate for member of the City Council, the number of the ward in which they reside. Said notices shall also state that the candidate has all of the qualifications provided by law for the office for which they are a candidate and the notice shall be duly notarized. The forms, or notices used, shall be made available on December 13, 2011, at 7:30 a.m. by the City Clerk at City Hall during regular business hours.
SECTION 8. This Ordinance shall take effect and be in full force and effect from and after its passage and approval as provided by law.
